Bollywood actor Anupam Kher turns 62 on March 7, 2018. Over a career spanning 35 years in the entertainment industry, Kher has not only worked in some of the path-breaking films in Bollywood like “Vijay”, “Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai”, “Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara”, “Saaransh”, in fact he has shown his talent in multiple Hollywood films too.
So far, he has worked in almost 500 films in India and abroad. He has also starred in many Hollywood films including David O. Russell’s 2013 Oscar-winning “Silver Linings Playbook”, the 2002 Golden Globe-nominated “Bend It Like Beckham”, and Ang Lee’s 2007 Golden Lion-winning “Lust, Caution”. He was recently seen in Academy Award-nominated film “The Big Sick”.
The Government of India has recognized his contribution in the field of cinema and arts twice and he has been honored with the prestigious Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016.
Kher has also held the post of chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification and the National School of Drama (New Delhi). His wife and actress Kirron Kher, is now a Member of the Indian Parliament from Chandigarh. Kher is a Kashmiri Pandit and has been vocal time and again about the current problems that are being faced by his community.
His net worth is estimated to be around Rs 400 crore. He has two bungalows in Juhu and Andheri and also has luxury cars including BMW and Scorpio. And surprisingly, despite this, as per a report, Kher took a loan of rupees 17.64 lakh in order to buy his BMW worth rupees 42 lakh.
